See Dr. Klaus Stratemann, Duke Ellington Day by Day and Film by Film, page 329, citing Billboard 1951-10-13 p.1, Variety 1951-08-08 p.52, and Variety 1951-10-03 p.51 On October 7, there were two performances at the Montreal Forum - source: The News and Eastern Townships Advocate, St. Johns, PQ, 1951-09-27, p.12 On November 17, there were two performances at the Purdue Hall of Music, Purdue University in West Lafayette, Ind. at 7 and 9 pm - source: Announcement, Kokomo Tribune, 1951-11-12, p.9 The venue was called "Purdue Hall of Music" at the time - see http://tinyurl.com/cjr54vl I have identified these performances as well: 1951 11 11 (Sunday) at Kansas City, Mo.'s Municipal Auditorium - source: "What to See in Kansas City," The Maryville Daily Forum, 1951-11-06 p.2 1951 11 16 (Friday) at Troy, Ind.'s Hobart Arena, 255 Adams St. - source: The Lima News, Lima, Oh., announcement, 1951-11-06, p.12 and advertisement 1951-11-13, p.16. 1951 11 26 (Monday) 8:20 pm at Canton, Oh., Canton Memorial Auditorium - source: Announcement, The Evening Independent, Massillon, Oh., 1951-11-23 p.17 1951 11 29 (Thursday) at Cambria County War Memorial Arena, Johnstown, Penn. source: Announcements in the Bedford Gazette 1951-11-26 p.6 and Indiana Evening Gazette 1951-11-26 p.9 While I haven't confirmed the date yet, it seems very likely the show was brought to San Antonio, Texas sometime during the week of October 29 to November 3, because the November 4 1951 San Antonio Light reported an attorney, Harry Bellinger, held a cocktail party for Ellington and his musical entourage "here last week." The Biggest Show played in Houston that week, which confirms it was in Texas.
