Listen to Sultans of Swing here Four tunes from their October 2006 concert in Oslo. I had a little difficulty opening the files
on line, but they worked fine if I downloaded them to my hard drive and opened them from there.

The Swing Legacy This little big-band (trumpet, 2 sax, 3 rhythm, plus female vocalist) presents the polish,
heat, and energy of the great swing big-bands. Their original arrangements produce a big-band sound
and make the group sound larger than six pieces. Their repertoire concentrates on classic big-band swing music,
including many Duke Ellington and Count Basie numbers. They function professionally both as a concert
jazz ensemble and a dance band. Recognized for their impeccable musicianship and powerful swinging beat,
The Swing Legacy has performed since 1991 throughout New England. Two highly acclaimed
CDs present some of the most interesting and exciting items from their repertoire.

Jazzin DUKES Jazzin Dukes is a Swedish sextet with trumpet, tenor sax (doubling clarinet and bari sax), trombone,
guitar, bass and piano. The group was formed in 1994 by trombonist Erling Torkelsson, and since
2001 the band has worked with vocalist Ann-Christin Hallgren. Namnet syftar på Ellington, som
är gruppens viktigaste musikaliska förebild. Nästan all deras musik är hämtad från honom och
hans krets av musiker. There are some nice sound clips on the "kyrkan" page.

Winnipeg Jazz Orchestra Professional band under the direction of Richard Gillis. Duke-LYM member
Bill Morton writes:"...the only community based professional jazz orchestra in Canada.
Founded in 1997, it was in anticipation of his 100th anniversary in 1999, that the Orchestra
presented it's first concert of Ellingtonia, in December of 1998. Since then, in addition to
at least one Ducal/Strayhorn composition almost every concert, it has performed "the Nutcracker"
at two Christmas concerts and will do so again this December 11 2005. A note of interest, one
member of the WJO board of directors sang with Duke, Johnny Hodges and the Ellington Orchestra
in its Easter 1970 presentation of "The Second Sacred Concert" in Winnipeg. He offerred to
sponsor her singing career in New York." - added/modified Jun 2 2005

Claude Bolling The Claude Bolling Big Band has recorded Ellington and M. Bolling regularly
perfoms the music. This is the link to his itinerary. His home page, en franįaise,
is here. Michael Palmer
writes "No-one seems to have mentioned Claude Bolling in the discussions of orchestras playing
the DE/BS repertory. His recordings of their music seem, to me at least, to have the real spirit."
